Etsy Offsite Ads fee, explained

Offsite Ads is not a fee on every sale. Etsy says you pay it only when a buyer clicks an offsite ad and purchases from your shop within 30 days. The public rate is 15% of that order if the shop has always made less than $10,000 USD in any consecutive 365-day period, or 12% once the shop has made $10,000 or more in any such period. Etsy’s fees help also says the Offsite Ad fee never exceeds $100 on one order.

AfterFees 0.3.0 lets you flip Offsite Off, 15%, or 12% on your computer. It does not see whether a real order was attributed.

When the fee actually posts

You pay only if A shopper clicks an Offsite Ad and buys from your shop within 30 days. No purchase, no Offsite fee. A click with no sale is free.
15% Shop has always made less than $10,000 USD in any consecutive 365-day period. Etsy enrolls these shops and says they can opt out.
12% Shop has made $10,000 USD or more in any consecutive 365-day period. Etsy says that rate is required for the lifetime of the shop.
$100 cap Etsy’s fees and taxes help says the Offsite Ad fee will never exceed $100 for an order, regardless of the order total.
What it is a percent of The order attributed to the ad. Etsy’s Offsite Ads help describes the fee on the amount you made from the sale before the advertising fee was applied. It is not the same bill as the 6.5% transaction fee or US payment processing (3% + $0.25).
Not on-site Etsy Ads On-site Etsy Ads are a click budget inside Etsy search. If the buyer’s final click is an Etsy Ad instead, Etsy says only the Etsy Ads fee applies, not Offsite.

Sources, public help fetched 4 Oct 2026: How Etsy’s Offsite Ads work (15% / 12%, $10,000 threshold, 30-day click, opt-out vs required) and fees and taxes (15% under $10,000 in the past 365 days, 12% at or above that, $100 cap). The two pages word the 365-day window slightly differently. If they ever disagree, use the help page Etsy shows you that day.

One attributed order, not every order

Sketch only: a $32.50 order (item plus shipping), Offsite attributed, shop under the $10,000 line, half-up cents. 15% of $32.50 is $4.88, under the $100 cap. That $4.88 is on top of transaction and processing. It is not charged on an order that was not attributed.

The extension cannot tell attribution apart. You pick Off, 15%, or 12% as a what-if before you publish. The take-home page is the toggle. This page is only what the fee is.

Check the worst case before you publish

  1. Price the sale with Offsite off, so you can see transaction, processing, and listing alone.
  2. Turn Offsite to 15% or 12%, whichever matches your shop’s public threshold.
  3. On a larger order, notice the $100 cap. On a small order, the percent is the whole Offsite line.
  4. Read estimated take-home on your machine. Nothing is uploaded.

FAQ

Does every Etsy order pay Offsite Ads?

No. Etsy charges it when a buyer clicks an offsite ad and purchases within 30 days. A click that does not buy anything is not charged.

Can I turn it off?

Etsy says shops that have always stayed under $10,000 USD in any consecutive 365-day period can opt out. Shops that have crossed $10,000 in any such period are required to stay in, at the 12% rate, for the life of the shop.

Is this the same as Etsy Ads?

No. Etsy Ads run inside Etsy and charge per click. Offsite Ads run on sites outside Etsy and charge a percent of an attributed order, capped at $100 on Etsy’s fees help.

Will 15% and 12% stay the same?

Don’t count on it. Re-read Etsy’s Offsite Ads help when a statement looks different. This page is a 4 Oct 2026 snapshot.
